This can only be a good thing as the brilliant, insightful ideas he will no doubt be contributing to UBC's new "Continuing Studies Centre for Sustainability" and Mayor Happyplanet's "Greenest City Action Team" (those people in Vancouver sure elect some winners, don't they? I have a feeling Action Man is going to be a lotta laffs. But I digress ...) will be incorporated into reports and learned papers that will be, as such are, studiously ignored by those who actually make the decisions in the real world where things cost money and people don't all want to live in 500 square foot apartments.
At worst, he may spawn a new irritating buzzword.

And really, Mike well away from the levers of power is by far the safest thing for all concerned, isn't it?

D'Oh Dhimmi Canerduh

Some are clearly more equal than others in canerduh.

Not surprisingly, John Simpson has had his human rights complaint thrown out by BC's kangaroo court, I mean, Human Rights Commission.

Simpson had complained about the many verses of the Koran which call on all Muslims to hate, kill, conquer, humiliate and generally not treat Jews and Christians particularly well.

However, while Section 7 of the Human Rights Code states that a person must not publish any statement that is likely to expose a person or group to hatred or contempt because of their religion, Commissar Barbara Humphreys managed to invent a loophole, ruling Simpson didn't explain how the Koran had a negative impact on him, a novel interpretation of Section 7, to put it mildly.

Now, don't get me wrong, I consider the whole Human Rights Commission racket an assault on freedom, free speech sacrificed to the bullshit, counterfeit "right to not be offended" claimed so frequently nowadays, so frequently, as in the Mark Steyn - Mclean's case, in the cause of stealth jihad.

However, fair is fair, and Commissar Simpson's twisting of the rules is just the latest example of the bias these kangaroo courts operate under. They'll go after some obscure Christian pastor and ban him from ever again publicizing in any way his (loony I think) views on homosexuals, while somehow managing to wink at:

O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him). (Q 9:123)

Apparently, sauce for the goose is not sauce for the gander in the crazy world of human rights commissioners.
Proof yet again that its time to scrap the whole thing.

Afghan Democracy Update

Burnaby residents frightened for their family's safety in the midst of the current gang war may have been somewhat depressed this week when CKNW's Marcello Bernardo reminded us that Burnaby RCMP are the lowest paid cops in the Lower Mainland.

A look at the books further reveals that in the five years ending Dec 31 '07 Burnaby's capital expenditure for the chronically understaffed Burnaby RCMP was dwarfed by such priorities as recycling, "cultural services", the bicycle program, the "urban trails" so popular with those looking to escape police ...

On the other hand, Mayor Three Chins and his pals on council are among the very best paid in the Lower Mainland; and those annual automatic raises don't hurt (them) either. What's more, these self-proclaimed socialists get a good chunk of that tax free, Comrade.

It sure is heartening to the rest of us to know our tax money is being wisely allocated, isn't it, Burnaby?

Recently, I was shocked and deeply disappointed to learn that the FBI has found the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has ties to the jihadis of Hamas. I had such high hopes, but alas, America's "largest Muslim advocacy group" led by Nihad Awad, turns out to be just another cog in what former FBI agent John Guandolo (who lost his job to stealth jihad) told law enforcement and Homeland Security personnel Tuesday is "a network of Islamic organizations (who) are working to incrementally implement Islamic law in the United States. "

Now we get word that Muzzammil Hassan, founder of a tv network devoted to "counteracting negative stereotypes of Muslims in America" apparently hadn't been briefed on how negatively we filthy kuffar react to beheading one's estranged wife. No word yet on how the network plans to deal with the inevitable "negative stereotyping" to come.

I wonder how frequently viewers of, say, CBC News, get to see these sort of snaps from Omar and his Sharia-luvin family. Do they make their way onto the bulletin board of the (Saudi funded?) Little Mosque on the Prairie?

How often are that family mentioned nowadays when 'poor little mistreated child' Omar's champions in the msm and chattering classes and all those dhimmi politicians are howling for poor, poor Omar's release?
